Massage Technique

Massage Technique

What makes each massage therapist unique? Besides the massage school where we learned the basics of massage and the core differences in deep tissue massage versus Swedish massage, as well as our continued education and training. What sets therapists apart from each other? The massage technique that we each use sets us apart. A seasoned  massage therapist should have great intuition with each individual body we work on. Knowing when to use trigger point therapy and then transitioning smoothly into deep tissue , or lymphatic work, or what ever modality is called upon,  depending on the clients needs.
I feel a great factor that sets me apart from other massage therapists is the fact I was a percussionist for many years, and played different varieties of drums quite fluently. My flow of massage is driven by the clients body, but my tempo is sustained by my mental metronome if you will.
Massage is a dance, transferring healing energy from the therapist to the massage client, and one must know how to keep time accurately for the massage to have a healing and relaxing flow to it.
I did not realize many years ago the different activities I was involved in my life would one day culminate into my massage techniques and flow.
If you are a local in Myrtle Beach, or vacationing here in our great city, I ask that you give me a call to truly experience healing massage as a spiritual dance. My reviews on Google+ and many other websites are a testament to my experience, knowledge, and professionalism, and I can assure you one of the greatest massage sessions you will ever encounter. I look forward to helping you relax as well as heal.

Benefits of Deep Tissue Massage

Benefits of Deep Tissue Massage

The benefits of Deep Tissue Massage are plentiful, and with rising costs of medical care, society seems to be migrating more and more to natural and alternative medicine. Deep tissue massage acts as both physical medicine for current muscular problems and pains, as well as preventative medicine for people who are actively living a more health conscientious life style.

Some of the benefits of deep tissue massage include relieving the muscular system of trigger points.Trigger points usually start at the belly, or bulk of the muscle. The fibrils in the muscle get bound up due to overexertion of the muscle, or straining the muscle to the point of tearing, in which the muscle responds in defense of the physical action by retracting to prevent further injury. The muscle fibers bound themselves into a knot, and as more strain is put on the muscle, the knot, or trigger point, increases its' area.
A skilled massage therapist will know the amount of pressure to apply through trigger point therapy to coax the muscle into releasing the bound area, and in most cases the trigger point can be released, but a skilled therapist also knows when the muscle is not yet ready to be released and will not cause additional injury if the muscle is still healing.
Another benefit of deep tissue massage is the movement of lymph fluid in the body. Our bodies rely on physical action and movement for the lymphatic system to work optimally. The lymphatic system helps the body rid toxins, and inactivity allows toxins to remain in the body instead of being properly removed from our amazing self healing system. You don't have to visit the gym every day in order to achieve a healthier lymphatic system , but even a good brisk walk or hiking a trail daily can improve the function of the lymph system dramatically, always keeping in mind to maintain proper hydration.
One other benefit to Deep Tissue Massage, as well as simply a good Swedish massage, according to many studies is the reduction in stress, anxiety, and depression. Studies show massage reduces cortisol, and increases dopamine and serotonin. One recent study shows a 53% decrease in cortisol with a control group of 500 people including men, women, and children, and a significant reduction in depression with women undergoing treatment for breast cancer. The human touch is an amazing physical medicine that is proven to help us heal, as well as live a more healthier life style.
